Originally from Hilo and a graduate of Waiakea High School, Dr. Ian Kawamoto’s philosophy is to provide each patient with optimal vision solutions and personal service. His areas of interest include diabetic dietary management, vision therapy, and myopia prevention. He is a certified orthokeratologist for Bausch & Lomb’s Vision Shaping Treatment. At Eye Care Hawaii, Dr. Kawamoto provides multiple high quality services including: comprehensive eye examinations, pediatric eye exams, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, macular degeneration diagnosis and treatment, eye injuries – adults and children, contact lens services and specialty fittings, and co-management of laser and cataract surgeries. Dr. Kawamoto received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and earned an Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. After practicing for 13 years in Nevada and California, he is excited to reconnect with his hometown community in Hilo. In his spare time, Dr. Kawamoto enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf or tennis.
